October update

Well, October has almost left us behind and at this point as there are only 7 days left in the month and I have accomplished nothing on the 1950 Pontiac Chieftain SilverStreak. October has been very busy leaving little or no time to work on the car. October is the change over month where we put away all the summer toys and other summer things and pull out all the winter toys like snowmobiles and ice fishing stuff and snow plowing implements. October is also the end or Dirt Track season and I have been spending a lot of my weekends driving to race tracks around the states of Minnesota and Wisconsin watching late season Dirt Track racing. There's nothing like going sideways through a turn a full throttle on the edge of losing it at any moment. Man I miss those days!

I also have not been able to hunt this October and that is a bummer for me. I love bird hunting and just have not had time to do it, by choice mind you so don't feel sorry for me.

As a family we are entering into another season, Hockey Season, so time will be extremely short for the next 3 months and I don't anticipate getting much accomplished on the car at all. (Bummer)

I have had the car for about one year now and though I feel that I have accomplished much I am not where I want to be. There is much yet to do and I am down one year with only 4 to go according to my schedule for the car.

I will have to make time this winter to work on the car and will update this blog when that happens, but for now we are in a holding pattern until I can schedule time on my calendar to work on the car.

The plan this winter is to remove the car from the frame and replace the body to frame rubber bushings, cut out and replace the rusted floorboards and trunk sections, remove the rear fenders.

I would like to find a motor and transmission so that I can mock up the engine compartment to be able to make the new mounting for the LS V8 that will go in place of the Straight 8 that was originally in the car. I have yet to decide whether to paint the frame or to leave it with that weathered look. Paint is expensive and I don't care if this is a points car I just want to have fun with it and drive it not trailer it every where for shows. It's going to be a daily driver in the summer time not a show car.

Well, until next time, keep your wheels on the ground and your foot to the floor, turn right to go left and hit your marks. Peace.

Addendum: One thing about this page is this, it keeps me honest with myself because it's all out there and I can't lie to you folks which means I can't lie to myself. It forces me to make time because when I see what I just wrote it makes me re-evaluate my priorities to make time for the car on top of all the other responsibilities that I must attend to. God and Family are priority and everything else is after that. Until next time. Cheers.

Another year has gone by

Well, it’s been almost a year since I touched a wrench to my car and some of it is due to laziness, some of it is due to health issues...
